Hardware Electronics Engineer – Space Products

GTS Space is working with a company who have spent more than 20 years designing and delivering advanced electronics and embedded software for New Space missions and applications. With multiple core competencies in-house — including hardware electronics, embedded software, digital signal processing and telecommunications systems — they offer deep technical expertise across the full product lifecycle.

The business is now expanding its product portfolio and engineering services, and is looking to strengthen its hardware team with an experienced Electronics Engineer to work directly on next-generation New Space products.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative and international engineering environment with strong technical ownership and real product impact.

The role

As a Hardware Electronics Engineer, you will take responsibility for the design and development of electronic architectures supporting space-grade systems. You will work closely with systems, software and firmware teams to ensure fully integrated, requirement-compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Review and analyse system requirements and propose compliant electronic architectures
  • Design and implement detailed analogue and digital schematics
  • Perform design analyses including Worst-Case Analysis, Derating Analysis and FMEA / FMECA
  • Review PCB layout designs produced by the wider team
  • Conduct initial CBA testing and debugging, followed by full functional validation
  • Produce structured technical documentation including analyses, test plans and test reports
  • Collaborate with Software and Firmware teams to ensure complete system integration aligned with project deadlines
  • Support the development of automated test capability within the organisation

What we’re looking for

  • Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Over 5 years’ relevant experience (space experience beneficial but not essential; automotive or medical background also welcomed)
  • Strong interest in developing hardware schematics covering:
  • Small signal design
  • High-speed memories
  • Microcontrollers and FPGA integration
  • Low-power DC/DC conversion
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g. Altium or similar)
  • Knowledge of circuit analysis and simulation tools such as LT Spice
  • Familiarity with general laboratory test equipment and PCB layout principles
  • Experience in RF and/or FPGA design is advantageous
  • Ability to script for test automation and reporting
  • Understanding of planning, risk management and structured engineering processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent English required; French or German is a strong advantage
