JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is looking for a Senior .NET Backend Developer to support a public sector client on a critical backend initiative. This role will be part of an established delivery team working on a cloud‑hosted, public‑facing digital platform. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role focused on building and integrating modern .NET backend services and REST APIs within a containerized Azure environment. The successful candidate will work closely with other backend engineers and report into a Senior Manager leading the backend team. This role follows a hybrid work model (1–2 days onsite per week) and requires candidates to be based in Ontario, as client systems cannot be accessed outside of the province. We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with the screening, assessment, or selection of potential applicants for this position.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Ontario‑based and able to comply with client system access requirements
• 5+ years of backend development experience with modern .NET and C#, including strong hands‑on experience in .NET 8/9
• Proven experience building backend services and REST APIs from scratch, using minimal APIs
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, and performance considerations
• Experience integrating multiple internal and/or external systems in distributed environments
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and common deployment targets (e.g., container‑based services, storage accounts)
• Experience containerizing .NET applications using Docker
• Comfortable developing in Visual Studio Code for .NET backend development

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in public sector or highly regulated environments
• Exposure to API observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights)
• Familiarity with container orchestration or serverless architectures in Azure
