👋 HEJ! (Swedish for Hi)
My name is Diego, Engineering Manager within the Core Services subdomain in Ingka Digital (IKEA). Our subdomain is responsible for managing the delivery and services partners work within the last steps of the customer buying journey. Simply said, that includes checking the availability of delivery companies, execution of the delivery and additional services (like assembly of furniture), and the payment of the partner. If you want to know more about how we work in Ingka Digital, please visit https://tech.ingka.com/
WHY YOU ARE A GOOD FIT

You share our vision of becoming the world’s leading multichannel home furnishing retailer and you believe good software is an essential ingredient of achieving that vision. We believe you have a great understanding of what simplicity and togetherness means. You know when to take and to give responsibility for what needs to be done. You care about your team and its software, and you continuously push for improvements in quality and speed. Together we will design, develop, deploy, release, and run our applications.
YOUR SKILLS INCLUDE
-Background in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
-10+ years of relevant experience
-4+ years of experience with Kotlin
-Knowledge of Java is a plus
-Substantial knowledge and experience with Kafka, Solace, or any other event-driven technologies
-Strong understanding of microservices and cloud native technology, and you have experience with designing and creating the architecture of new platforms from scratch
YOU WILL ALSO BE
-Working with relevant frameworks like Quarkus
-Defining and publishing APIs – API 1st mindset, REST API design
-Working with GitHub, Kubernetes, Terraform, Vault and Docker
-Designing data models in SQL and no-SQL databases
-Defining, implementing, and monitoring KPIs to detect potential improvements on our services
-Creating, maintaining, and improving performance of CI/CD pipelines
-Collaborating with Frontend Engineers to integrate our coworker facing elements
-Part of a DevOps and Agile team, working closely with multiple product teams
WHAT WE OFFER
You will be part of a global company with a great culture and an inspiring vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people” for customers, but also for our co-workers and the people who work at our suppliers/partners.
Some of the perks that we offer:
-A shiny new workplace in Amsterdam with healthy snacks available for free and, obviously, furnished with IKEA furniture. A place where you can be yourself!
-Proper gear for you to do your job (high-end mac or windows laptop and an iOS or android phone)
-A balance between work from home and work from the office that fits your life and your team needs
-Co-worker discount at IKEA stores
-Generous pension scheme
-Opportunity to put your mark in the transformation of IKEA
-Continuous learning with our 80/20 rule. 80% working on a product 20% working on yourself. We will provide you with Coursera and Pluralsight accounts.
LET’S START OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER!
The role is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Please note that we will be interviewing continuously. We look forward to hearing from you!
