Contract Data Protection Officer (DPO) – DPO as a Service
📍 Dublin, Ireland – Onsite presence required
📅 Contract engagement – Part Time
We are supporting a client in Dublin looking to appoint an experienced Data Protection Officer (DPO) on a fractional / DPO-as-a-Service basis.
This role is suited to a senior privacy consultant or independent DPO who can provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure ongoing compliance with EU GDPR and broader data protection requirements.
The engagement requires regular onsite presence in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the organisation’s appointed Data Protection Officer, including potential registration with the relevant supervisory authority where required.
- Provide ongoing advice and guidance on the organisation’s obligations under EU GDPR and related data protection legislation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities on privacy-related matters.
- Oversee the organisation’s privacy governance framework, ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and controls are in place.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to maintain the Article 30 Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and supporting data flow documentation.
- Advise on the need for and execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Provide guidance on data breach management processes, including monitoring, escalation and regulatory notification requirements.
- Advise on the management of data subject rights requests (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, etc.).
- Support internal teams in maintaining data protection policies and compliance documentation.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to senior management on privacy compliance, risks and regulatory developments.
Additional Advisory Scope (as required)
Depending on organisational needs, the DPO may also provide advisory support on:
- Privacy governance improvements and GDPR action plans
- Third-party risk and data processing agreements
- Data sharing arrangements and cross-border data transfers
- Privacy awareness and data protection best practices
- Regulatory developments impacting data protection and privacy compliance
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience working as a Data Protection Officer, Privacy Officer or Senior Privacy Consultant
- Strong expertise in EU GDPR and European data protection frameworks
- Experience advising organisations on privacy governance, risk and compliance
- Ability to operate at both strategic advisory and operational oversight levels
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Based in Ireland and able to attend onsite meetings in Dublin
