Welding Instructor
1. JOB SUMMARY/SCOPE:
a. Maintain contact with industry groups concerning industry training needs and update courses as required.
b. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of communication with the community.
c. Regularly engage in professional development activities and keep current with developing trends and ideas in profession
d. Advise students on academic matters and related concerns.
e. Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, institute and community activities.
f. Exhibit strong leadership skills, including motivation and management of objectives.
g. Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgement when making decisions.
h. Maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators, and other instructors.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Effectively organize, teach and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned welding courses in accordance with established curriculum.
b. Prepare and present lessons in welding courses and laboratories.
c. Maintain welding course curriculum and provide student guides for all courses taught.
d. Design and implement teaching methodologies for classroom and laboratory activities which develop the required competencies of the students.
e. Arrange welding workshops for student practical experiences and monitor progress.
f. Assist in the process of requesting, coordinating and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classrooms and welding workshop.
g. Prepare and administer examinations and other evaluation tools.
h. Evaluate and record student performance and progress.
i. Supervise the work of teaching and workshop assistants.
j. Assist in the development of new welding courses and revisions to existing courses and instructional materials to ensure continued program groMh and development.
k. Ensure high quality standards in course materials and delivery are maintained.
3. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Certified Welder in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW at all levels up to 6G on pipe
• Minimum 10-15 years oil/gas industry experience
• Instructional experience at the tertiary level.
• Extensive industry experience.
• Excellent communication and presentational skills.
• Proficient in use of MS Project, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
• Driving Licence
• Passport
4. Highly Desirable:
• Certified Welding Educator by American Welding Society (AWS)
• Work experience in more than one country.
