Location: Oman – Sohar
Minimum requirements
Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineer (Instrument), or Electrical/Process Engineering
Language requirements
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)
Background and experience
6+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge of reliability principles and instrumentation asset management within Oil & Gas and/or Process Industries
Knowledge of AMS Device Manager or other IMS systems
Experience reading/understanding P&IDs and engineering documentation.
Innovative Thinking with the use of data to provide asset insights.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to work effectively with personnel at site while based.
High proficiency with MS Office suite of products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Quick to learn and adapt to new tools/processes.
Well versed on the latest International Code & Standards related to Instrument / Instrument Engineering
Knowledge of Engineering Software like STAAD /AutoCAD for Instrument Engineer
Experience in reviewing, executing Engineering Software like STAAD /AutoCAD for Instrument Engineer
Good knowledge in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and HSE plans.
Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports.
Knowledge of personal computer applications such as Primavera / Maximo / MS Project SAP, XL spread sheets, Project management tools.
Experience in handling FEED/EPC Contracts
HSE (Permit to Work – PTW, Process Safety, H2S Awareness, Basic Fire Fighting, Emergency Response)
Good knowledge and expertise of SAP (PM & MM & FM Modules) Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
Understanding of Process Plant (P& ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
Job purpose
Provides robust instrument Engineering for instructional materials / equipment for a particular project(s) by (1) Testing, measuring specific parameters , (2) Conducting inspections and repair equipment (calibrated and designed for high precision, accuracy, and reliability) with a technician's help, (3) May handle a large scope of projects simultaneously, (4) Provides guidance to junior engineers, trainees, and teams, (5) Implement continuous improvements of equipment/services, tasks, and (6) support Lead Engineer Instrument in implementing key instrument Engineering initiatives to maximize plant availability; in order to ensure that the instrument engineering services section meets the approved engineering design criteria, applicable code & standard and functional requirements including compliance with department strategy and project specifications.
Accountabilities
Supporting configuration of smart instrumentation alert parameters in
Developing Dashboards and Reporting for Alert Management
Dev Mapping control system tag data to analytic inputs/metrics by reviewing P&IDs and Historian Databases
Collecting and reviewing engineering documentation for equipment specifications and system information
Developing, Testing and Validating analytics for Rotating equipment including Pumps, Compressors, Bulk Handling Equipment
Provide Innovative ideas to support instrument asset performance management.
Coordinating, directing, and reviewing the work of vendors and engineering contractors
Identifying risks and issues within your area of responsibility
Creating supporting documentation or collecting information pertinent to the project
Interfacing with integrated team to work collaboratively.
Plan, create, and design different instructional materials / equipment for a particular project(s)
Ensure teams apply common engineering principles and concepts to their own teams' responsibilities,
Test, inspect and repair mechanical equipment with a technician's help,
May handle a large scope of projects simultaneously, and in addition to performing tasks, provides guidance to junior engineers, trainees,
Implement the operation support strategy for the specific Engineering process/ path / discipline & support the implementation of key projects and initiatives related to specific assets.
Design, develop, build, test, modify and implement complex systems / processes / products / assets.
Analyze problems, investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty, troubleshoots, and collaborate with co-workers to find solutions by initiating / find route cause and proposes solutions / recommend remedies to for implementation.
Create a failure analysis library to learn from previous mistakes.
Generating reports and writing project proposals
Presenting design and research to customers
Advising staff with process recommendations
Executes stress analysis of all Instrument as per company procedures and/or approved international practices.
Prepare the necessary documentation, establishing major methods and data as necessary and ensure the selection of the optimum Instrument design from both technical and economic standpoints.
Identify gaps in existing practices and tools and manage the process of developing new practices or toolkit items that enhance company – RPI technological offerings.
Conduct or supervise site inspection for accuracy of Instrument and equipment including Instrument walk-downs.
Technical:
Computer literacy including MS Office
SOP interpretation
Knowledge of engineering best practices
Refinery commissioning and start-up.
