Position Overview

Job Title: Backend Engineer, AS

Location: Pune, India

Role Description

  • We are looking for a passionate, forward‑thinking, and skilled backend engineer to support the Global Financial Crime Intelligence Unit (GFCIU) within the Anti‑Financial Crime (AFC) department. In this role, your role will involve working within an agile Scrum team to develop and implement new features for our products that are designed for AFC business within Deutsche Bank.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a backend engineer, your role will include responsibilities, such as:

  • Java Engineer is responsible for designing, building, implementing, and maintaining software applications using Java and related technologies.
  • Responsible for developing back-end services with Java, integrating APIs, ensuring cross platform optimization, and collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Should have proficiency in Java, Spring boot and related tech stack as well as strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in an Agile development environment.


Your Skills And Experience

MUST HAVE:

  • Experience in Java 17, Spring, Hibernate, REST APIs, Junit, Oracle/SQL/ PL SQL, Linux, Shell Script
  • Jira, Confluence, Git, Maven, Teamcity/Jenkins, Artifactory
  • Strong knowledge of modern backend frameworks, REST API development, event‑based systems, and microservices architectures.
  • Solid experience with SQL databases (Oracle / SQL Server), database modelling, and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Build Tools (preferably Maven), Source Code Control (preferably Git), Continuous Integration (Hudson, Jenkins or TeamCity) and Cloud/ Docker based application deployment.
  • Ability to produce well-tested, documented, high-performance code to tight schedules
  • Profound knowledge of design patterns and principles
  • Deep understanding of database models and SQL tools
  • Worked in agile environments with methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban or similar
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Experienced working in distributed multi-cultural teams
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, TeamCity), Git-based workflows, and cloud-native deployments


GOOD TO HAVE-

  • Familiarity with deploying microservice on Kubernetes pods, OpenShift, and containerization.
  • Exposure to AI‑driven coding tools (e.g., AI copilots, intelligent code review assistants, automated defect detection).
  • Experience of how AI/ML components integrate with backend systems (e.g., model inference APIs, feature pipelines, monitoring)
  • Event based frameworks, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Openshift
  • Experience in creating low-level design documents
