Voop is building the global child-safe phone network, protecting millions of children and adults from digital harm.

About Voop

Awareness has never been higher about the damage smartphones can do to young people, yet almost no one is fixing it.

Voop is building the world’s first safe mobile platform, a new kind of network that replaces traditional telcos and installs intelligent protection on any smartphone.

By combining network-level controls, device-integrated safeguarding software, and AI-powered risk detection, Voop gives parents, carers, schools, and governments the ability to protect without over-restricting, all on the devices that children and adults already use and love.

Our first product, Voop for Care, is live with leading care providers, protecting thousands of vulnerable children in the UK.

Next, we’re expanding into schools and consumer markets to make digital safety the default, not the exception.

Backed by leading global investors and built by a world-class team of engineers, designers, and safeguarding experts, Voop is tackling one of the defining challenges of our time: creating a safer digital future at massive scale.

Why Voop
  • Mission that matters: Build technology that directly protects children and saves lives.
  • Massive opportunity: A $50B+ global market for safe connectivity, with active customers and real revenue.
  • World-class team: Alumni from Google, Accenture, Vodafone, Barnardo’s, and law enforcement.
  • Momentum: Thousands of users onboarding, millions more in the pipeline.
  • Top-tier backing: Supported by global funds committed to fixing smartphones for good.
The Opportunity

As a Product Designer at Voop, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and scaling our platform across web and mobile. You’ll work closely with Nick Pasha-Gubbins (Co-Founder & CTO) & Oliver McGough (Founding Designer) on:

  • Our new product area: A rare opportunity to design - and put your mark on - a first-class native-mobile experience (iOS & Android), from the ground up.
  • Iterating and enhancing our existing web-based Care platform (shadCN/Tailwind)
  • Translating our unreleased brand refresh into distinctive, delightful, UI & product.
  • A truly purposeful product; apply yourself to a product solving a real societal problem.

From day one, you’ll contribute to production code, shape product direction, and see the direct impact of your work through user outcomes and safeguarding results.

This is a great time to join an early stage company with strong market traction, backing and momentum to go big.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own visual design and delight at Voop: Take our brand and turn it into truly delightful, memorable UX and UI.
  • Shape and evolve our existing design system, whilst helping to define new ones appropriately; ensuring scalability and consistency for all Voop products.
  • Define & design our native mobile apps (iOS and Android) alongside the wider product team.
  • Contribute strategically to defining future product features by engaging with our diverse userbase; kids, parents, care organisations, and more.
  • Work with our founding designer to translate existing web features to mobile, reimagining their designs and interactions for a native experience.
  • Consider every part of a finely crafted experience: animation, copy, UI to business impact
About You
  • “Full Stack” is always great, but a weighting slightly towards visual artistry and interaction design would be perfect.
  • Proven track record in end-to-end product design, with a portfolio showcasing shipped native mobile applications.
  • You know iOS design guidelines and philosophy; and to a lesser extend Android’s. You needn’t know them by heart, but have the intuition and humility to put consistency first.
  • You have several years of experience as a Product, UI, or UX designer building quality products in lean teams.
  • You’re opinionated but collaborative, bringing scars from what hasn’t worked and empathy for working fast with others.
  • A genuine interest in mission-driven work, particularly online safety and safeguarding
  • Expert proficiency in modern design tools like Figma and advanced prototyping tools such as Protopie or Origami.
  • You care about the craft: A keen eye for visual design excellence and a solid grasp of human-centred design processes and interaction principles.
Bonus Points
  • Experience building 3D assets (Blender, Spline, etc), and prototyping/implementing them with developers
  • You’ve worked on one or more top-tier native Apps
  • Gaming industry or gaming-adjacent work is of interest.
  • You’ve designed child-facing apps and experiences
  • Passion for online safety, child protection, or social impact tech.
