About You

You are a pragmatic developer who enjoys building things that actually work. While you like thinking about how a system fits together, you are happiest when you’re actually writing code and solving tangible problems. You have a genuine interest in how machines handle language, and I’m always down to jump into the "engine room" to fix a bug or optimize a feature alongside the team.

About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Leader to define the future of our software ecosystem. You will be responsible for selecting the right tech stacks, establishing development KPIs, and ensuring our products are deployed efficiently using modern DevOps practices. This role bridges the gap between complex backend logic (PHP/Python/Javascript) and vibrant, user-centric frontends (JavaScript).

Responsibilities

• Deployment & DevOps: Lead the containerization strategy (Docker/Kubernetes) and know the basics of deployment to ensure stable, scalable releases.
• Full-Stack Development: Able to manage backends in PHP, Javascript or Python while being able to "vibe" with the frontend team to produce high-quality JavaScript/React code.
• AI/NLP Integration: Collaborate with our linguistics team to integrate Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) services for icon retrieval and translation.
• Mentorship: Guide junior and senior developers, ensuring code quality through reviews and architectural oversight.

Nice to have

• Architecture & Strategy: Evaluate and select the most effective programming languages and frameworks for new and existing projects.
• Performance Metrics: Define and track technical KPIs to ensure development efforts align with organizational goals and user needs.

Qualifications

• Technical Breadth: ability to understand and write some code in PHP, Javascript and Python for backend services and JavaScript (React) for frontend.
• DevOps Mastery: some experience with containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment.
• Leadership: Experience leading technical teams or projects in an agile, remote environment.

Plus

• Systems Design: Experience designing scalable architectures from scratch.
• AI Curiosity: A foundational understanding of (or a strong desire to learn) NLP/ML concepts to help automate our iconic language processing.

Availability

• ~5–10 hours per week (flexible).
