We are seeking an experienced .NET Backend Engineer to join a leading consulting firm for one of their banking project in Sydney. You will be responsible for building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that support critical banking applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, and Microservices architecture, along with cloud exposure (AWS or Azure). Prior experience in the banking or financial services domain is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise-grade backend solutions using .NET Core and ASP.NET MVC
• Build and maintain secure RESTful Web APIs
• Develop scalable microservices-based architectures
• Ensure solutions meet banking standards for security, compliance, and performance
• Deploy, manage, and optimise applications on AWS or Azure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, DevOps, QA, and business stakeholders
• Participate in code reviews and maintain coding best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline implementation and DevOps practices

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in .NET development
• Experience working with AWS or Azure cloud platforms
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and API security (OAuth2, JWT, etc.)
• Experience with SQL Server or other relational databases
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
• .NET Core
• ASP.NET MVC
• Web API development
• Microservices architecture

Preferred (Highly Desirable)

• Prior experience in Banking or Financial Services
• Understanding of financial systems, payments, lending, or regulatory environments (APRA, ASIC compliance awareness)
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
• Exposure to messaging/event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code
