Company Description
Cove is the operating partner for Deck2 Capital, a Sydney-based family office. Together, we acquire and operate digital businesses across industries where there is an insurance distribution opportunity. Cove creates and provides an AI native platform with innovative insurance products, pricing models and front-end components enabling rapid integration for better business outcomes. We're just getting started with the recent acquisition of Auto Europe.
Cove is filled with people who are great at their job, and love doing it. You'll be joining a fast moving team that's just getting started. In this role, you'll play a meaningful role in improving the performance of the products you design. Plus, we have a competitive compensation structure that rewards outcomes and lets you share in the upside that we're creating in a more tangible way than typical start-up equity programs.
This role is based in our harbourfront Manly office, based across the road from the Ferry terminal for easy commutes. We're a hybrid workplace and ask that the team works in-person 2-3 days per week.
Role Description
As a UI Designer, you’ll design clear, scalable, high-quality product interfaces across our digital platforms, with a strong focus on conversion-driven customer journeys.
You’ll work closely with the Design Lead, Product Managers, and Engineers to design and evolve front-end experiences across acquisition, checkout, onboarding, and post-purchase flows. This role suits a designer who enjoys working through ambiguity, iterating on real products, and balancing strong UI craft with commercial outcomes.
You’ll be involved end to end, from early concepts and interaction design through to polished, delivery-ready UI. You’ll also continuously refine existing experiences based on insight and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve user interfaces across key customer journeys, from early concepts through to delivery.
- Translate product goals, user behaviour, and performance insight into clear, intuitive UI solutions.
- Partner closely with the Design Lead, Product, and Engineering to prototype, iterate, and ship improvements to live experiences.
- Design and refine critical flows such as product discovery, pricing, checkout, onboarding, and account management.
- Explore and iterate on design options to improve clarity, hierarchy, and decision-making at key moments.
- Contribute to and help evolve a shared design system to support consistency and scale.
- Support experimentation and optimisation efforts by contributing UI input into tests and refinements.
- Communicate design intent, rationale, and trade-offs clearly.
What we’re looking for
Design Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience designing digital products or interfaces.
- Strong UI fundamentals across layout, spacing, typography, and visual hierarchy.
- Experience working on customer-facing, conversion-driven digital products.
- A portfolio that demonstrates clear thinking, iteration, and polished UI execution.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and experience producing delivery-ready designs.
- Experience working closely with product and engineering in agile teams.
- Comfortable iterating on existing designs, not just creating net-new screens.
- Practical understanding of front-end constraints and build considerations.
You'll also have:
- A strong interest in how design impacts user behaviour and outcomes.
- Clear communication skills and comfort explaining design decisions.
- A collaborative, hands-on mindset and willingness to work closely day-to-day.
- Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort working within evolving systems and constraints.
- An outcome-focused approach that balances quality, speed, and commercial needs.
