Parliamentary Service is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Network Engineer to join our ICT Operations team. In this role, you'll support the stability, performance and security of critical technology services across the Parliamentary precinct. Working closely with the Network Engineer and broader IT teams, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of technologies while developing your professional capabilities in a supportive and collaborative environment.
This is a 12 month opportunity, with the possibility of extension.
Key Objectives
- Assist in monitoring, maintaining and supporting the organisation's network, telephony, AV, and security infrastructure.
- Provide L1 and L2 technical support and escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Contribute to seamless IT service delivery through teamwork, communication and a strong customer focus.
- Monitor and log the performance of network, Wi‑Fi and telephony services, escalating issues as required.
- Assist with configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, wireless access points and firewalls under supervision.
- Provide L1/L2 support for customer issues related to networking, telephony and AV systems.
- Support equipment preparation, testing and reliability for operationally critical days and AV/streaming continuity.
- Maintain accurate system documentation, asset records and incident logs.
- Assist with project activities including testing, deployment and integration of network, telephony and AV solutions.
- Work collaboratively with internal IT teams, external vendors and contractors.
- Deliver excellent customer service both in-person and remotely, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution.
- Participate in ongoing learning and development to expand skills in enterprise networking, telephony and security platforms.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Network Engineer or ICT leadership.
- Foundational knowledge of networking technologies including switching, routing, Wi‑Fi, firewalls and enterprise telephony.
- Experience providing L1/L2 support, including monitoring, troubleshooting and incident management.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work constructively in a team environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and contribute to problem solving across the IT environment.
- Commitment to developing skills in platforms such as Cisco Webex, CCNA pathways, Extreme Networks, FortiGate SD‑WAN, Cisco Meraki SD‑WAN or PRTG.
- Experience working in an ITIL‑aligned environment and using ITSM tools for incident, request and change processes.
- Telecommunications or carrier network vendor management experience (desirable).
- Relevant degree or ICT qualifications highly regarded; certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Extreme, FortiGate, SonicWall, ITIL or project management credentials are an advantage.
