ACENSI BELGIUM is looking for his client an IT System Engineer & DevOps (F/M/X)

Context

The client is currently modernizing its IT infrastructure and strengthening collaboration between Infrastructure and Development teams. A key transformation initiative involves the finalization of a VMware to Hyper-V migration. At the same time, the Infrastructure team is being reinforced to support approximately 600 users operating within a modern and secure Windows environment. The role sits at the intersection of Infrastructure, Development, and End-User Support, acting as a technical bridge between teams while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Windows Infrastructure Administration

• Administer and optimize Hyper-V environments in production.

• Manage and maintain Windows Server environments following best practices.

• Operate and maintain critical network services such as DNS, DHCP, and NPS.

• Administer and secure Fortigate firewalls.

• Implement strong security policies including access management, segmentation, and system hardening.

• Monitor infrastructure and proactively detect incidents before they become critical.

Developer & Cloud Environment Support

• Act as the technical interface between the Infrastructure team and developers.

• Support development teams working with Hyper-V and OpenShift environments.

• Facilitate technical discussions and quickly resolve application issues linked to infrastructure.

• Improve mutual understanding of Infrastructure and Development requirements.

• Contribute to the improvement of deployment and support processes.

End-User Support

• Provide reliable Level 3 support for approximately 600 users.

• Manage Windows updates, network configurations, and user security issues.

• Document solutions clearly and contribute to user knowledge sharing and training.

• Contribute to security policies and NIS2 compliance initiatives.

Cross-Functional Infrastructure Management

• Design and maintain robust and tested backup strategies using Veeam or equivalent tools.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.

• Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, Development, and Security teams.

• Communicate clearly on technical risks and mitigation strategies.

• Support teams during major incidents and infrastructure crises.

Profile Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a System Engineer or similar role.

• Proven experience managing and supporting Windows Server environments in critical infrastructures.

• Hands-on experience with incident management and user support.

• Ability to operate effectively in a technologically evolving environment.

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Windows infrastructure administration.

• Good knowledge of Hyper- V virtualization environments.

• Solid understanding of networking and security concepts.

• Scripting skills in PowerShell and Bash.

• Understanding of containerized and cloud environments such as OpenShift / Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of backup and restore solutions (Veeam or equivalent).

• Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIS2 is considered an advantage.

• Basic knowledge of Java is a plus for facilitating discussions with development teams.
