Salt is currently hiring a AWS specialist for a client of ours in Amsterdam.
Role is for freelancers with kvk/zzp.
A Software Engineer II designs, develops, and maintains scalable software applications and cloud-native services. The role focuses on delivering high-quality code, leveraging AWS cloud services, and implementing CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and efficient software delivery. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and takes ownership of services throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development
- Develop and maintain scalable applications using modern development practices.
- Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code using standard design patterns.
- Implement automated testing and ensure high code quality and reliability.
Cloud & AWS
- Build and deploy cloud-native services using AWS.
- Implement infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Monitor application performance and ensure scalability and resilience.
CI/CD & DevOps
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
- Improve release processes and deployment reliability through automation.
System Ownership & Operations
- Own services end-to-end, including deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.
Architecture & Collaboration
- Contribute to system design and architectural discussions.
- Work closely with engineers and product teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience.
Technical Skills
- Java (primary programming language)
- Perl (experience or willingness to learn)
- AWS cloud services
- CI/CD pipeline development
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and automated testing
- Data engineering experience preferred
