About Your Role as a Java & Angular Fullstack Developer
You will join one of eight Java Scrum teams. You’ll work closely with a lead architect, four Java developers (junior to senior), two testers, and a product owner. Within this team you develop a variety of applications in the domain of GIS, data visualization, and state-of-the-art web and desktop solutions.
You play an important role within the team: technically strong in both Java and Angular, able to guide colleagues, and committed to raising the quality of the codebase.
Responsibilities
- Designing and developing Java software within an Agile Scrum team
- Primarily backend development (Java / Spring Boot) combined with Angular work
- Contributing to architecture together with the Lead Architect, focusing on clean and maintainable solutions
- Pair programming with (junior) colleagues and coaching less experienced developers
Technical Environment
You will work in a modern Java and web-based environment:
- Java (currently including Java 18, transitioning to Java 21)
- Spring Boot
- Angular
- Containerization & cloud-native development
- Docker, Kubernetes
- Working with GIS libraries such as Leaflet, with a move toward OpenLayers and MapLibre
What You Can Expect from the Organization
You will join a software and engineering organization (~120 FTE) that plays a central role in a complex national information chain. The applications directly relate to tangible logistical infrastructure — not administrative or financial systems, but software that truly impacts society.
All teams are responsible for their own product or application. Teams operate quite independently within their domain, but collaborate strongly across the department. Knowledge sharing is embedded in the culture through internal communities, hackathons, demos, guilds, and various knowledge sessions.
- Informal, open culture with a strong work-life balance
- Professionals with passion for their craft
- Plenty of room for personal development
