Company Description

Founded in 2008, MLS is a rapidly growing premium fresh meat delivery platform operating in Oman and the UAE. We are building a next generation commerce and logistics platform that powers express and scheduled delivery across multiple cities. Our goal is to move away from a Shopify-based stack and build a fully custom, scalable platform designed specifically for delivery commerce.

Role Overview

This is a full-time Hybrid role for a Tech Lead/Engineering Lead, located in Dubai. The role involves leading technical teams and overseeing engineering tasks to ensure smooth execution and delivery.

The Mission

As Tech Lead, you will architect and build the core technology platform that powers MLS. You will lead the transition from Shopify to a custom-built architecture designed for high-performance mobile commerce, multi-store fulfillment, delivery slot orchestration, and scalable operations across multiple cities.

What You Will Build

• A scalable commerce backend to replace the existing Shopify stack.
• Custom checkout orchestration supporting saved cards, wallets, promotions, and delivery slots.
• A delivery engine supporting express delivery, scheduled delivery, and multi-zone logistics.
• Multi-store fulfillment systems including store routing and delivery capacity management.
• Internal operations dashboards for order management, refunds, and logistics operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Architect the MLS backend platform and define system architecture.
• Lead and mentor a small, high-performing engineering team.
• Design reliable services for payments, checkout, delivery slots, and order orchestration.
• Integrate external services such as PayMob, Lyve, Yotpo, JudgeMe, and Richpanel.
• Ensure high reliability, scalability, and performance of the platform.
• Work closely with founders and operations teams to design real-world delivery workflows.
• Taking ownership of his/her responsibilities and assigned tasks.

Ideal Candidate Background

• 8+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong experience designing backend architectures and APIs.

• Experience building ecommerce, marketplace, or logistics platforms.

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).

• Experience leading engineering teams or technical projects.

Bonus Experience

• Experience migrating platforms away from Shopify or similar SaaS commerce systems.

• Experience with payment processing systems.

• Experience designing delivery, logistics, or inventory systems.

• Startup or high-growth company experience.
