About the Role
We are looking for a Senior IoT Platform Architect to lead the technical vision and guide the engineering team in building You will work closely with diverse teams to shape and deliver next-generation IoT systems, guiding the implementation
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical vision and guide the engineering team in designing and building a modern IoT platform.
- Define device communication layers and protocol abstraction for multiple channels (LoRa, BLE, MQTT, etc.).
- Design event-driven, modular, and scalable system architecture.
- Ensure offline-first operation and robust on-prem deployments.
- Guide the implementation of telemetry ingestion, device management, and command dispatch services.
- Set technical standards for coding, testing, DevOps, and security practices.
- Lead the security architecture, including device authentication, secure communication, and hardware integration.
- Define and guide the use of Digital Twins to simulate system behavior and optimize city-wide lighting and energy - Define the Edge Computing strategy to move logic closer to devices, reducing latency and bandwidth usage.
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices in software development and IoT systems.
- Drive the gradual migration from legacy systems while ensuring system reliability and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in IoT or device-heavy platforms.
- Proven experience designing IoT platforms or industrial device management systems.
- Strong knowledge of IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, BLE).
- Experience with event-driven architectures, message brokers, and telemetry pipelines.
- Proficiency in backend development (Java / Spring Boot, Kotlin, or similar).
- Experience with edge computing, offline-capable systems, and on-prem deployments.
- Strong background in modular software design, DDD, and scalable architectures.
- Expertise in security by design for IoT systems.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience mentoring and guiding technical teams.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with time-series databases (PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of OTA firmware updates and device lifecycle management.
- Exposure to smart city or energy management systems.
- Familiarity with GIS concepts for asset mapping.
- Knowledge of Matter or Thread protocols.
- Experience optimizing telemetry ingestion at scale (FinOps for IoT telemetry).
