Sr Network Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in Security Monitoring: Support the monitoring of network security devices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), and security information and event management (SIEM) tools. Help analyze security alerts and incidents to identify potential threats.
2. Assist in Firewall Management: Aid in the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of firewall devices. Learn about firewall policies, rule sets, and access control lists (ACLs) to ensure the security of network traffic.
3. Network Monitoring: Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
4. Security Policy Development: Develop and enforce security policies and procedures related to firewall management, access control, and network security best practices. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Incident Response and Forensics: Respond to security incidents, conduct forensic analysis, and mitigate the impact of security breaches. Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to resolve security incidents in a timely manner.
6. Security Auditing and Compliance: Perform regular security audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of firewall configurations and security controls. Maintain documentation and records of security audits for compliance purposes.
7. Risk Assessment and Vulnerability Management: Identify potential security risks and vulnerabilities in the network infrastructure. Implement remediation measures to address security weaknesses and reduce the organization's exposure to cyber threats.
8. Security Documentation and Reporting: Assist in maintaining documentation of security configurations, policies, and incident response procedures. Help prepare reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and compliance status for management and stakeholders.
9. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure the integration of security measures into network operations and infrastructure. Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to enhance the organization's overall security posture.
Desired Candidate Profile:
1. Technical Skills: Solid understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, switching, and subnetting. Familiarity with network protocols and tools used for monitoring and troubleshooting. Proficiency in firewall technologies and security principles, including but not limited to Fortinet, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Juniper etc
2. Basic Security Knowledge: Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA). Interest in learning more about network security technologies, threats, and best practices.
3. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze security logs, alerts, and network traffic data to identify potential security incidents or anomalies. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for troubleshooting security issues.
4. Team Collaboration: Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and assist senior members in security-related tasks and projects. Good communication skills to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
5. Curiosity and Learning Agility: Eagerness to learn and develop skills in cybersecurity, particularly in firewall management and security operations. Willingness to pursue relevant training, certifications, and self-study opportunities.
6. Time Management and Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a dynamic environment. Willingness to adapt to changing requirements and deadlines as needed.
