About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence and shape the digital experiences of thousands of residents, staff, and prospective buyers. As a senior member of the product and design team, you will lead a small but talented group of designers, driving innovative design solutions for websites, portals, and internal tools. Your expertise will be pivotal in enhancing user journeys, optimizing back-office processes, and ensuring our digital products are accessible, inclusive, and user-friendly. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and external agencies, you will own and evolve our design system, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practices in user experience design.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio showcasing services, websites, or tools that demonstrate innovative and user-centric design. Proficiency in Figma and Storybook is essential, along with a thorough understanding of accessibility standards such as WCAG and inclusive design principles. A good grasp of front-end development concepts will enable effective collaboration with technical teams. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are vital, as is experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Prior experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, especially within housing, public services, or regulated sectors, is highly desirable. Leadership experience, particularly in line management, will be considered an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
- Design and improve websites, portals, and internal tools to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Refine complex user journeys and streamline back-office processes through thoughtful design solutions.
- Collaborate closely with front-end developers to co-create components and ensure design consistency.
- Manage and evolve the organization’s design system using tools like Figma and Storybook.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Translate research findings into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Promote accessibility and inclusive design practices across all projects.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
