Chief Operating Officer — Confidential | ML Research Lab

We're working with a Zurich-based ML research lab to find their first COO. A small team of around 10 people, serious research, zero bureaucracy.

This is an execution role — not a ceremonial one. The right person will be embedded in the lab, close to the research, and directly responsible for keeping the organization running as it scales rapidly.

You'll own:

• GPU infrastructure procurement and datacenter contract negotiations (100+ GPU node scale)
• Physical office setup in Zurich
• Researcher onboarding and productivity
• Finance coordination, vendors, tooling, and internal processes
• Proactively unblocking issues before they reach leadership

Technical bar: Solid conceptual grasp of ML/deep learning — MoE, inference-time compute, quantization, large-scale training constraints. Comfortable in a terminal, familiar with Python and modern AI tools. You don't need to publish papers. You need to keep up with the people who do.

The profile:

• Proven track record running complex projects end-to-end in technical environments
• High ownership, high autonomy — happy to negotiate a datacenter contract one day and assemble office furniture the next
• No requirement on years of experience or prior COO title
• Must be fully on-site in Zurich
