Staff Observability Engineer at BairesDev

We’re looking for a Staff Observability Engineer with deep Java expertise and authoritative knowledge of how to architect observability platforms for large-scale distributed systems. You’ve designed high-cardinality metrics pipelines, built instrumentation frameworks that other engineering teams rely on, and you have the cross-team influence to define how observability is approached across an engineering organization. This is a platform engineering role — you’re building the telemetry infrastructure, not just running the systems it covers.

What You’ll Do:

- Architect and lead development of observability platform infrastructure in Java for large-scale distributed systems.

- Design high-cardinality metrics pipelines and end-to-end tracing systems that operate reliably at enterprise scale.

- Define observability platform standards and drive adoption of OpenTelemetry and related tooling across engineering teams.

- Lead cross-team initiatives to improve distributed systems visibility and telemetry coverage.

- Evaluate and introduce AI/ML approaches for anomaly detection within the observability platform.

- Mentor engineers and support technical growth across the observability platform team.

What We Are Looking For:

- 8+ years of experience in IT roles.

- 7+ years of experience with Java as a primary language in platform or infrastructure engineering.

- Deep expertise in observability platform architecture including metrics pipelines, tracing, and instrumentation.

- Experience designing high-cardinality metrics systems for distributed environments at scale.

- Strong knowledge of OpenTelemetry and observability standards.

- AI/ML experience for anomaly detection is a plus.

- Demonstrated cross-team technical leadership at a Staff or equivalent level.

- Advanced proficiency in English.

How we do make your work (and your life) easier:
