Senior Java Developer – Microservices | Stockholm | Contract

We are currently supporting a client in Stockholm who is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a high-performing engineering team working on modern distributed systems and microservices architecture.

This is a contract opportunity focused on building scalable backend services, improving platform performance, and supporting the rollout of services across multiple markets.

Role Details

• Location: Stockholm (onsite / hybrid 2/3 days a weel)
• Rate: 600 SEK per hour
• Role: Java Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Java-based microservices within a modern distributed architecture
• Develop orchestration services and scalable backend systems
• Build and maintain REST APIs and asynchronous integrations using messaging technologies
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
• Improve observability, monitoring and performance of services
• Support production environments and market rollouts

Key Skills

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience building microservices and orchestration services
• Hands-on development of REST APIs and event-driven integrations (Kafka, JMS, Solace or similar)
• Experience implementing OAuth authentication and authorization
• Knowledge of observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenTelemetry or similar)
• Strong SQL skills including schema design and query optimisation
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
• Familiarity with ServiceNow / ITSM processes
