DevOps / Cloud Engineer - Senior
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
Rate: CAD $80-$90/hr
We are seeking a Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to provide expertise in cloud platforms, primarily AWS, and support the design, build, and maintenance of cloud environments. The role focuses on ensuring system availability, performance, and security while supporting automation, monitoring, and documentation of cloud-based solutions.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and support cloud environments and solutions.
Provide expertise in Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Solaris), including installation, troubleshooting, hardening, and scripting for automation.
Monitor and assess application performance in cloud environments to ensure reliability and availability.
Develop, test, and implement safeguards to maintain data integrity and security.
Regularly review production logs, providing analysis and proactive recommendations.
Hands-on experience with microservices and distributed application architectures, including containers, Kubernetes, and serverless technologies.
Develop detailed documentation for system design, integration, configuration, and implementation.
Maintain system design models, technical documentation, and specifications for solutions.
Produce integration plans and contribute to configuration and development projects.
10+ years of experience in IT, including cloud and infrastructure.
Extensive experience creating, managing, and maintaining AWS/cloud-based production systems.
Deployment and automation of cloud-based packages.
Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of cloud systems.
Strong knowledge of AWS services (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, Aurora, Redshift, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, API Gateway, ELB, Auto Scaling, and others).
Experience with additional AWS services such as Amazon Connect, Pinpoint, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and Polly.
5+ years experience with Unix/Linux OS administration (Red Hat, Solaris), including scripting for automation.
3+ years administering Kubernetes and Docker container solutions.
Proven experience implementing cloud security models, including identity, network, and encryption.
Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Production environment troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Developing and maintaining system design models and technical documentation.
Setting up development environments using tools like JIRA, Confluence, and CI/CD pipelines.
Scripting in Python, Bash, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, or similar languages.
Container-based virtualization and API integration experience.
Applying industry standards and best practices in architecture, web, and security.
Monitoring, logging, and metrics design for cloud-based systems.
Evaluating new technologies and vendor products to improve processes and systems.
Technical leadership and ability to recommend process improvements.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
Effective consulting and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management abilities.
