DeepJudge is Switzerland’s leading AI and ICT scale-up, transforming how law firms and legal departments access and leverage their knowledge. Founded by former Google search engineers with PhDs in AI from ETH Zurich, and backed by top-tier Silicon Valley investors, we are building the intelligence layer that powers the legal industry.
Every firm can license the same AI models, but no two firms share the same institutional knowledge. Decades of experience, work product, and precedent are often trapped across systems, underused and inaccessible. DeepJudge makes this expertise instantly available through world-class enterprise search and AI infrastructure, enabling firms to automate workflows, build knowledge-powered applications, and turn experience into a lasting advantage.
Our technology is trusted by many of the world’s leading law firms, including Freshfields, Gunderson Dettmer, Holland & Knight, Arent Fox, and Cozen O’Connor. Headquartered in Switzerland with a growing team across North America, we are expanding rapidly and shaping the future of how professional knowledge is discovered and applied.
At DeepJudge, we move fast, think rigorously, and care deeply about what we build. We combine cutting-edge research with close collaboration with our clients to deliver solutions that truly make an impact. If you want to be part of a team defining how AI transforms high-stakes knowledge work, this is the place to do it.
About the role:
We're looking for a Frontend Engineer who combines strong technical expertise with a deep appreciation for well-crafted UIs and seamless user experiences. You'll be instrumental in building the features that make our powerful product feel intuitive and delightful to use.
Our users, legal professionals, operate under pressure and deal with high-stakes knowledge. Your mission is to build experiences that reduce cognitive load, guide users to the information they need, and help them fully leverage our product's capabilities.
You'll collaborate closely with our product team to translate vision into reality. This role goes beyond implementation. We value engineers who contribute strategic thinking about how features should work, not just how they should be built. Attention to detail matters here, from structure and architecture to animations and micro-interactions.
You'll have significant ownership over frontend architecture decisions and a real opportunity to shape how we build our product as we scale. This is a hands-on role where you'll write and ship production code daily, but also one where your voice matters in product discussions, architectural decisions, and the evolution of our design system.
We're looking for someone who brings both humility and strong opinions, someone who can advocate for their ideas while remaining open to feedback and different perspectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, performant frontend code in a production environment, ensuring high code quality, reusability, and long-term maintainability
- Contribute to the frontend architecture and ensure that it scales
- Review code and contribute to a high standard of code quality and maintainability
- Participate in agile development processes
- Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to create, design, and translate product vision into implementation
- Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies
- Ensure UI decisions prioritize usability, accessibility, and reduced cognitive load for end users
- Contribute to the evolution of the design system
- Write tests and monitor frontend performance to ensure a reliable, fast experience
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and contribute ideas beyond your immediate scope
- Have 4+ years of experience building and maintaining production applications with real end users using modern frontend frameworks (we're using React)
- Love creating consistent and enjoyable user experiences that guide users through legal research, document analysis, and workflow automation, delighting them at every interaction
- Have solid TypeScript experience, are comfortable with generics, type inference, and building type-safe components
- Have a sharp eye for pixel-perfect UIs and smooth micro-interactions that convey meaning and bring designs to life
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, can clearly articulate technical and visual decisions, and enjoy in-depth discussions with other team members
- Enjoy collaborating closely with the product team, understanding their vision, and elevating it by crafting user experiences that are both beautiful and functional
- Experience with NextJS in production, including server-side rendering strategies, caching, and route architecture
- Familiarity with Figma and design handoff workflows
- Accessibility experience that ensures our product works for all user groups
- Experience leading frontend initiatives or mentoring other developers
- Location: Office 5min walking distance from Zurich central station, where we primarily work on site
- Collaborative and supportive work environment
- Potential for professional growth and advancement within the company
- Ownership and ability to impact the company, product, and culture
- View frontend as just "making things look pretty" rather than optimizing user experience and product value
- Want strict requirements and prefer to work solely on what you are told
- Prefer working in isolation rather than collaborating closely with design and product
- You haven't yet owned significant frontend decisions, or you haven't developed strong opinions about frontend architecture
- Prefer to work remote-first and don't value in-person collaboration
If this role excites you, but you feel you don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway and tell us why you’d be a great fit.
