Cyber security in healthcare is not just about protecting systems, it’s about protecting patients, clinicians, and the continuity of care.

We are seeking an experienced Head of Cyber Security Operations to lead and mature enterprise security operations within a large, complex and highly regulated organisation. This role provides the opportunity to lead Security Operations capability at national scale, partnering with senior Digital & Technology leaders to strengthen cyber resilience and operational readiness.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the Cyber leadership team, you will lead the Security Operations function, ensuring the organisation can effectively detect, respond to and recover from cyber threats while continuing to mature capability and uplift security posture.

You will operate at the intersection of strategy and operations, leading a high-performing team while shaping the roadmap for cyber security capability across the organisation.

Key areas of focus include:

• Leading and evolving Security Operations (SOC / SecOps) capability
• Overseeing incident response and cyber crisis management
• Driving continuous improvement in threat detection, response and vulnerability management
• Developing and delivering a multi-year cyber uplift roadmap
• Partnering with architecture, technology and business leaders to embed security-by-design
• Reporting cyber risk, operational performance and resilience metrics to senior leadership
• Leading and developing a distributed cyber operations team across multiple sites

About You

We are looking for a practical cyber security leader who combines operational depth with strategic thinking.

You will likely bring:

• Experience leading enterprise Security Operations or SOC functions
• A track record delivering cyber uplift or maturity programs
• Experience working in large, complex or regulated environments
• Strong incident response leadership and crisis management capability
• The ability to translate cyber risk into clear business outcomes
• Proven experience engaging with executive stakeholders and senior technology leaders
• A leadership style that builds high-performing, resilient teams
• Experience aligning cyber programs to frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, Essential Eight or similar will be highly regarded.
