Senior Systems Engineer – High‑Performance Distributed Platforms
We are seeking an experienced engineer to take full technical ownership of a mission‑critical execution platform. This role sits at the intersection of advanced algorithms and real‑world system behaviour, requiring someone who can translate complex computational logic into fast, reliable, deterministic software operating under demanding conditions.
You will define the architectural direction, drive hands‑on development, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the platform evolves in line with organisational goals. This role offers broad autonomy and the opportunity to influence both technology choices and long‑term engineering standards.
In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that a performance‑sensitive distributed system operates predictably, consistently, and with minimal latency. You’ll solve challenging engineering problems (from streamlining event‑driven execution paths to designing robust processing pipelines that handle inconsistent and imperfect incoming data.)
Your work will directly shape the reliability, speed, and scalability of the wider system.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance and refine a low‑latency execution engine to reduce delays, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain full visibility into system behaviour.
- Convert algorithmic logic and analytical models into production‑grade implementations.
- Establish clear architectural direction and take ownership of designing, evolving, and building the core system.
- Integrate and validate new data feeds, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency.
- Oversee the health and performance of production clusters, ensuring uptime and operational stability.
- Collaborate with research and analytics colleagues to improve monitoring, diagnostics, and tooling for faster experimentation and iteration.
Tech Environment:
We’re looking for engineers who can contribute immediately while also helping steer future technical evolution. The current stack includes:
- Languages: Strong ability in Rust or other systems-level languages, plus proficiency with Python.
- Infrastructure: Experience managing containerised workloads in production (Kubernetes, Helm).
- Data Layer: Familiarity with Postgres, Redis, and object storage solutions.
- Engineering Practices: Solid grounding in CI/CD, automation, testing frameworks, and architectural best practices.
- AI Productivity: Comfortable using modern AI tools to streamline development and experimentation.
- Bonus: Interest in or experience with systems that support ML-driven logic or model‑informed execution.
