Madbox

Game Designer

Madbox
France · Full-time · Not Applicable

Madbox is a fast-growing mobile gaming company with a very unique way of developing games. Everything has been made for teams to take as much ownership as possible, unleash their creativity, bring performance, and have as much fun as possible.

We opened a brand-new studio in Annecy one year ago, a stunning city in the French Alps designed to spark creativity and collaboration.

As part of Madbox, you’ll work with a small, passionate team with real ownership, working side by side with veterans behind Pocket Champs, our first casual hit. Together, you’ll help build bold, accessible, and unique mobile games from the ground up, where team chemistry and creative ambition come first.

This is a unique opportunity to join a promising game at its earliest stage, within a tight-knit New Games team based in our newly opened Annecy studio (8–10 people). You’ll iterate fast on a strong game concept, shaping it on the road to soft launch and beyond.

As the game grows, as a Game Designer, you’ll help build the foundations of its Live Ops system, playing a key role in preparing it to scale and defining a long-term Live Ops vision for titles that show strong traction. You won’t just contribute to a game, you’ll help turn early potential into a lasting success.

If you’re passionate about making games and you have an entrepreneurial mindset, join us in this new adventure!

Your future responsibilities and scope:

  • Design and balance game features
  • Create engaging gameplay mechanics and systems
  • Contribute to the ideation and development of new features
  • Analyze player data and feedback to improve game experience and KPIs
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation
  • Collaborate closely with art, UX, and development teams to ensure seamless implementation of design vision

The profile we are looking for:

  • Experience in balancing game systems and economies
  • Good sense of gameplay experience, and special attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform design decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Figma
  • Working knowledge of Unity or similar game engines
  • Deep understanding of current mobile game market trends and best practices
  • Passion for mobile games

Nice to have:

  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Previous experience in scaling a mobile game
  • Experience with rapid prototyping or early game development phases

If you enjoy shaping games from nothing, working closely with a small team, and making hard calls to move faster, this role is for you.

Please note: unfortunately, this position is not open to relocation and we cannot offer visa sponsorship.

At Madbox, we value the mindset and how you can fit with our culture by sharing common values and creating great games together.

We are passionated, always pushing to the next level to learn new things. We are creative and innovative and most of all, team players 🙏
