Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to join our team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Kotlin-based Android development, a deep understanding of the mobile application lifecycle, and experience integrating secure APIs and cloud-based services.
You will work within an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain high-quality mobile applications. The role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on secure and scalable mobile solutions, particularly in a regulated environment such as financial services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin (and Java where required)
- Work with Android SDK, Android Studio, and Jetpack components
- Manage the full mobile development lifecycle, from design to deployment
- Integrate and secure RESTful APIs and external SDKs
- Implement secure coding practices and unit testing
- Collaborate with backend teams to integrate cloud-based services
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and deployments
- Ensure application performance, scalability, and security
Required Skills & Experience
- 8–10 years of Android development experience
- Strong expertise in Kotlin (Java as needed)
- Proficiency with Android SDK, Android Studio, and Jetpack components
- Deep understanding of the mobile application development lifecycle
- Experience with:
- Design patterns
- Threading
- File I/O
- Memory management
- Mobile security practices
- Hands-on experience integrating RESTful APIs and external SDKs
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications
- Knowledge of secure coding best practices and unit testing
Cloud & Platform Experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including:
- Azure App Services
- Azure Functions
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure Storage
- Monitoring tools
