Role Overview

Organization is seeking an experienced iOS Tester to support validation of in‑cab navigation, tablet‑based, and iOS mobility applications used across heavy‑duty truck platforms. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, accuracy, and safety of navigation, routing, driver assistance, diagnostics, and fleet applications deployed on vehicle‑mounted tablets and iOS devices.

The tester will work closely with engineering, product, UX, and supplier teams to validate applications operating in real‑world trucking environments, integrating maps, GPS, telematics, vehicle data, and backend enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

iOS & In‑Cab Application Testing

• Test iOS applications deployed in‑cab tablets, including driver‑facing and operational apps.
• Validate navigation and routing workflows used by professional truck drivers.
• Perform testing across multiple iOS versions, tablet models, and screen sizes.
• Ensure stability during long‑haul driving scenarios, power cycling, and extended runtime usage.

Navigation & GPS Application Testing

• Test in‑cab navigation applications, including:
• Turn‑by‑turn navigation
• Route planning and re‑routing
• Truck‑specific routing (height, weight, axle, hazmat restrictions)
• Validate GPS accuracy, map rendering, location tracking, and real‑time updates.
• Test offline and online navigation behavior, including map downloads and sync.
• Validate integration with traffic data, road conditions, alerts, and geofencing.
• Verify correct behavior during signal loss, poor connectivity, and GPS drift scenarios.
• Perform usability testing to ensure driver‑safe interaction, minimal distraction, and compliance with in‑cab usability standards.

Heavy‑Duty Truck & OEM System Validation

• Validate applications integrated with vehicle systems, telematics platforms, sensors, cameras, and backend services.
• Test app behavior under vehicle operating conditions such as vibration, temperature changes, and intermittent connectivity.
• Verify data accuracy and synchronization between in‑cab tablets, navigation services and backend systems.
• Support field testing, pilot deployments, and on‑truck validation when required.

Test Planning & Execution

• Analyze requirements, user stories, and specifications to create test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases.
• Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and UAT testing.
• Perform exploratory testing with focus on safety, navigation accuracy, and real‑world usability.
• Validate performance, responsiveness, battery consumption, and app stability on iOS devices.

Automation & API Testing

• Develop and maintain iOS automation scripts using XCUITest, Appium, or similar frameworks.
• Automate regression suites for navigation and mobility applications.
• Perform API testing for navigation, routing, mapping, and backend services using Postman or equivalent tools.
• Support integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

Defect Management & Collaboration

• Log, track, and manage defects using JIRA, Azure DevOps, or approved tools.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, UX teams, and suppliers.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and release readiness reviews.
• Provide clear test status reports, quality metrics, and release recommendations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in iOS application testing (iPhone & iPad).
• Hands‑on experience testing navigation and GPS‑based applications.
• Experience with tablet‑based applications in automotive, fleet, or industrial environments.
• Understanding of maps, routing logic, GPS, offline navigation, and location services.
• Experience with iOS automation tools (XCUITest, Appium).
• Knowledge of REST APIs, backend integrations, and data synchronization.

Domain Experience (Highly Preferred)

• Experience with heavy‑duty trucks, commercial vehicles, fleet management, or automotive OEMs.
• Understanding of driver workflows, navigation use cases, telematics, and logistics operations.
• Exposure to OEM quality standards and real‑world vehicle validation.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Clear communication and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work in cross‑functional OEM and supplier environments.
• Willingness to support field testing and real‑truck validation as needed.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Experience working with similar OEMs.
• Knowledge of truck‑specific navigation constraints and safety considerations.
• Exposure to MDM, OTA updates, or enterprise tablet deployments.
• Experience supporting North America‑based OEM programs.
