Project overview:

The client is developing a digital platform for smart energy services, including EV smart charging, real-time energy monitoring, and flexibility services. The platform integrates: mobile applications (iOS and Android), cloud-based backend services, IoT devices providing real-time energy data and optimization services interacting with energy markets.

The system processes real-time telemetry from connected devices, exposes APIs to mobile applications, and enables customers to monitor and control their energy usage.

Scope of work

The consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the existing Android application for the platform.

The Android application will support functionality such as:

• Real-time visualization of energy consumption
• EV charging control and scheduling
• Interaction with IoT devices
• User account functionality
• Smart energy optimization features

The consultant will work closely with backend developers, IoT engineers, and product stakeholders.

Tasks and Responsibilities include:

• Leading Android application development
• Designing maintainable mobile architecture
• Implementing new features and improving existing functionality
• Ensuring code quality, testing, and maintainability
• Collaborating with backend developers on API design
• Participating in architectural discussions across the platform
• Supporting and mentoring the junior iOS developer where relevant

The consultant is expected to:

• Understand the platform architecture and domain
• Contribute to the mobile development roadmap
• Collaborate effectively with backend and IoT developers
• Deliver high-quality Android features
• Improve mobile code quality and architecture
• Ensure maintainable and scalable Android code
• Contribute to cross-platform mobile development practices
• Support knowledge sharing within the team

Required Competence

MUST have:

• At least 5 years experience in Android development
• Strong experience with Kotlin
• Expertise in building production-grade Android applications
• Proficiency in working with modern Android architecture: MVVM, Clean Architecture, Jetpack components
• Know-how of integrating mobile apps with REST APIs
• Experience working in agile product teams
• Strong communication skills in English

The consultant must also be comfortable:

• Participating in architectural discussions with backend developers
• Supporting less experienced mobile developers
• Working in a cross-functional team

Nice to have experience with

• Real-time data applications
• IoT-connected products
• Energy platforms or smart-home systems
• CI/CD for mobile applications
• Working in teams developing both iOS and Android apps
