Sephora SEA’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).
The Opportunity
Sephora Digital’s Technology team builds products that power our business across South East Asia & Oceania. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Sales Engine squad, the team responsible for cart, checkout and payments. This is a key position in the team as we increase our capacity to deliver an ambitious roadmap across countries.
Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Sales Engine squad, playing a pivotal role in the end-to-end development and delivery of features related to cart, checkout, and payments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Accountability for features, driving their end-to-end development from conceptualization through design, coding, testing, and deployment. Ensure the delivery of solutions that are of superior quality, scalable, and maintainable.
- Engage actively in design and architectural deliberations for both new features and system enhancements, leveraging technical expertise to devise robust and future-proof solutions.
- Mandate stringent code quality through the development of comprehensive and effective test cases and the execution of meticulous code reviews (PRs), verifying strict compliance with established coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
- Operate proficiently within an Agile/Scrum methodology, providing substantial contributions to all sprint ceremonies and consistently achieving defined sprint objectives in a timely manner.
- Deliver prompt and efficacious support for issues encountered in the production environment, encompassing investigation, systematic troubleshooting, and resolution to uphold optimal system stability and performance.
- Strictly adhere to all established team processes, coding standards, and directives issued by management, thereby ensuring consistency and alignment with broader organizational imperatives. Cultivate a positive, collaborative team dynamic to enhance morale and communication effectiveness.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineer with a passion for building robust and scalable e-commerce solutions. The ideal candidate will possess:
Essential Qualifications
- Spring Boot: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on, strong experience in Spring Boot development, demonstrating proficiency in core Java concepts and framework.
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Principles: Strong understanding and practical application of OOP principles.
- Microservices and APIs: Hands-on experience with Microservices, designing and implementing REST APIs, architectural patterns, and performance optimization and working with JSON.
- Database Knowledge: Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- E-commerce Platform Experience: Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Commercetools.
- Frontend Exposure: Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) is a plus.
- Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
