As a Business Analyst, you'll collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders across technical and business teams to drive the delivery of Admiral Group’s dynamic IT and business changes.

Your main goal is to bridge business needs with technical solutions. By identifying, analysing, and translating business needs into functional specifications, you'll ensure our solutions align with strategic goals, boost efficiencies, and deliver maximum value to our users.

The Business Analyst plays a crucial role in understanding the real problems to solve, identifying opportunities, and facilitating effective communication between business and technical teams to ensure solutions are both technically sound and meet business and customer expectations.

You’ll gain hands-on experience through all stages of the change lifecycle, from early discovery to post-implementation. You'll thrive in both waterfall and agile environments and communicate effortlessly with stakeholders at all levels.

Main Duties

  • Collaborate and engage with stakeholders of all levels to gather, document and analyse business and technical needs
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements, user stories, use cases and functional specifications as appropriate
  • Document and evaluate current and target state processes and identify areas for improvement to drive efficiency, reduce risk and enhance customer experience
  • Analyse customer feedback, data and insights to support identification of requirements
  • Create and maintain detailed analysis documentation including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), use cases, user stories, functional specifications and process diagrams as appropriate throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Collaborate with Architecture and delivery teams to determine optimal solutions based on business needs
  • Support planning and prioritisation through data driven insights, customer feedback, business value and impact assessments
  • Validate solutions meet business needs and transition smoothly into the live environments
  • Assist in 3rd party vendor selection and delivery
  • Identify and support the managing of risks, issues and dependencies

Essential

The successful candidate must have:

  • Substantial experience leading business analysis activities across large scale IT and Business Changes
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and change lifecycle
  • Demonstratable experience in agile, waterfall and hybrid environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders of all levels across business and technical roles
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to challenge constructively
  • Experience translating complex business needs into actionable business requirements
  • Confidence in facilitating workshops, interviews and presenting analysis with stakeholders of all levels
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining detailed analysis documentation, BPMN process diagrams, business requirements documents (BRD’s), EPICs, User Stories, Use Cases and Functional Specifications etc
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors, writing RFI’s/RFP’s and supporting activities from vendor selection through to delivery
  • Experience supporting test activities to ensure solutions are smoothly transitioned into the live environments
  • Familiar with Microsoft products and other analysis tooling - Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Azure DevOps, MIRO, JIRA, Confluence as minimums

Desirable

  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in a Business Analyst role within IT
  • Experience of leading analysis within a Regulated environment, Financial Services and specifically Insurance is desirable.
  • Proficient in business analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Formal business analysis and/or project management qualification (e.g. BCS, CBAP, IIBA, PMP or Prince2).
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of supporting less experienced or Junior Business Analysts.
  • Experience of developing Business Analysis templates and processes.
  • This is a hybrid role with expectations to travel to the Ty Admiral Cardiff office twice per month.
