A global specialist insurer is looking to expand its data science capability within its London Market division. The business operates across a range of complex commercial insurance areas and is well known for using data and analytics to support underwriting, pricing and strategic decision-making. Their analytics teams work closely with the business to apply modern data science techniques to real-world problems, helping drive a more data-led culture across the organisation.0

The Role

As a Data Scientist, you’ll work on a variety of high-impact analytical projects across the business. The role involves taking problems from initial exploration through to modelling and insight generation, applying statistical and machine learning techniques to support decision-making.

You’ll work with a mixture of internal and external datasets, delivering both ad hoc analysis and predictive or prescriptive models. The role is collaborative and stakeholder-facing, with regular interaction with teams such as underwriting, pricing and engineering to ensure analytical outputs are both actionable and implemented effectively.

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience in data science, advanced analytics, or a strong academic background in a relevant field
  • Strong programming skills in tools such as Python, R or SQL
  • Experience building predictive models or applying machine learning techniques to business problems
  • Solid grounding in statistics and data analysis
  • Ability to communicate technical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Interest in a range of machine learning techniques (e.g. linear models, tree-based models, deep learning)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g. GCP) or large language models is beneficial but not essential
  • Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving real business problems with data and wants to work in a collaborative, technically strong analytics environment.
