A leading NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Senior Full‑stack Software Engineer to guide a development squad and contribute hands‑on to the evolution of core Taxes and Payments applications as they transition to modern cloud‑native capabilities.

A leading NSW Government agency is seeking an experienced Senior Full‑stack Software Engineer to guide a development squad and contribute hands‑on to the evolution of core Taxes and Payments applications as they transition to modern cloud‑native capabilities.
About the Role
In this role you will provide technical leadership, support agile delivery, and build high‑quality, scalable solutions. You will work closely with developers, stakeholders, and partners, playing a vital part in shaping future digital experiences for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor software engineers within an agile squad
- Design, develop, test and support key government applications
- Deliver hands‑on development using Java and React
- Ensure solutions meet coding, quality, and design standards
- Coach and upskill less experienced IT professionals
- Champion agile/scrum practices and continuous improvement
- Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams
- Maintain clear and proactive communication with customers
Skills & Experience Required
- Full‑stack development experience
- Strong Java development (Java 11+) and Spring Boot
- React, Redux, JavaScript ES6, CSS3
- Solid understanding of microservices & integration patterns
- AWS experience (ECS, RDS, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure)
- Docker containerisation and performance tuning
- SQL skills with Postgres & Oracle, including query optimisation
- Experience with UI component libraries (Material‑UI, Bootstrap, Ant Design, Semantic)
- Agile methodology and CI/CD delivery experience
Highly desirable:
- Payments industry experience / ISO 20022
- Familiarity with AI tools and LLMs
