Are you a strategic project leader who loves turning complex ideas into real, measurable outcomes? At Pax8, we’re on a mission to transform how the cloud is bought, sold, and managed – and we’re looking for a Strategic Project Manager (Operations) to help drive our most important initiatives.
In this high-impact role, you’ll sit at the heart of our transformation agenda: leading cross-functional projects, guiding entry into new markets, and supporting M&A activities. You’ll work closely with senior leaders and Pax8 executives to ensure we’re not just ready for change – we’re driving it.
This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, and can be based in Sydney or Brisbane, Australia.
It will report to the VP of Strategy & Operations.
What you’ll be doing?
As Our Strategic Project Manager (Operations), You Will
- Lead end-to-end strategic projects – Design and deliver robust project plans including scope, objectives, timelines, and resources, ensuring initiatives are completed on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
- Partner with senior stakeholders – Build strong relationships across Pax8, deeply understand stakeholder needs, and keep everyone aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage risk with confidence – Proactively identify risks and issues, maintain risk registries, and implement mitigation strategies that protect delivery and outcomes.
- Orchestrate major strategic initiatives – Coordinate pan-organisational resources to deliver projects such as product launches, geographic expansion, and merger & acquisition integration.
- Own performance and progress – Track performance using the right tools and techniques, providing clear and regular updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
- Invest in your own growth – Drive your development through learning paths, Pax8 L&D programmes, peer and manager coaching, stretch assignments, and on-the-job learning.
You don’t need to tick every box, but you’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Strong project management experience – Significant experience leading complex projects, ideally in a consulting or fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Sharp analytical thinking – Ability to break down complex problems, conduct impact analyses, and turn insight into practical, actionable plans.
- Change management expertise – Hands-on experience designing and delivering change initiatives, including change communications and adoption strategies.
- Outstanding communication skills – Confident in designing, developing, and delivering clear and engaging written and verbal communications for a range of audiences.
- Stakeholder management strength – Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders, manage expectations, and maintain alignment across multiple teams.
- Risk management capability – Experience identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, with a structured approach to managing risk registers and issue resolution.
- Technical and tool proficiency – Comfortable working with project and workflow tools such as Smartsheets, ServiceNow, Jira, and process mapping tools like Nintex Promapp.
- Broad business acumen – Understanding of business processes across technology, finance, sales, HR, and marketing, and how they connect in a growing organisation.
- Problem-solving mindset – Strong root-cause analysis skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity and resolve complex challenges.
- Adaptability and pace – Thrive in a fast-moving environment, juggling multiple priorities while staying composed, organised, and focused on outcomes.
