đź”§ Senior Network Engineer

🌏 About APD Global

At APD, we deliver engineering and design solutions to power utilities, electricity generation developers, and the mining and resources sectors across Australia and New Zealand. Our team of over 400 professionals operates from 15 offices throughout the APAC region.

Our services encompass extra high voltage transmission grids, power distribution networks, and consumer-end electric supply facilities. We also offer customized, integrated solutions for protection system design, automation, control, and communication, tailored to our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and implement critical OT network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, core, and hybrid systems in the resources and power utility sectors
  • Develop network diagrams, cabling and equipment drawings, equipment layout plans, and installation details
  • Document network details in databases, reports and engineering drawings
  • Carry out site surveys to gather information for the projects you are designing
  • Liaise with Project Managers and engineers from other disciplines to ensure the projects meet the technical requirements while maintaining schedules and budgets
  • Prepare high level/low level design reports
  • Configure devices and conduct bench testing/FAT
  • Oversee site commissioning

What We Value

We’re seeking candidates with technical design experience or knowledge in two of the following areas:

Networks

  • Switching, Routing, MPLS, and Firewalls (Cisco CCNA/CCNP preferred)
  • Industrial IP and Ethernet networks
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN/SD-WAN)
  • Network Management Systems (NMS)

Fibre Optics

  • Fibre transmission link design
  • Outdoor comms pit & pipe
  • Fibre cable network design (splicing, termination onto FOBOTs, etc.)
  • Buried fibre optic cabling (direct buried and in pit & pipe)

Other telecommunications experience

  • Structured cabling systems (Cat6)
  • Telephony (analogue and VoIP)
  • LTE (RAN)
  • Telecoms DC and AC power supply systems
  • Configuration and commissioning experience
  • Telecommunications inventory database modelling

👤 What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • A motivated team player who excels both collaboratively and independently
  • Willingness to travel (national/international)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience within consulting environment is highly desirable
  • Experience with OT networking in the mining, utility, or industrial sectors
