Data Analyst (1‑Year Contract)

The Retail Banking Services (RBS) team delivers a seamless banking experience to more than 10 million personal and small business customers. The area comprises several functions that support the goals of Group priorities.
Our Remediation team is responsible for remediating our retail customers in a fair, transparent, efficient, timely and consistent way; in a manner that protects the fair and efficient operation of the market and builds confidence in our products and services.
In this role
As a Data Analyst, you will utilise analytical tools primarily Teradata SQL and large datasets to enable business leaders to make better decisions. Through the delivery of high‑quality analytics and insights, you will contribute to the end‑to‑end governance framework, ensuring products meet the standards we uphold for our RBS customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking end‑to‑end ownership and delivery of data‑driven remediation projects
- Investigating customer anomalies and platform queries to ensure swift and accurate remediation
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with various stakeholders
- Presenting insights and key findings using data visualisation tools
- Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss, and act on current and future risks
We are interested to hear from people who have:
- Experience and knowledge in data and analytics
- Intermediate SQL experience, preferably using Teradata
- Python skills (advantageous but not essential)
- Ability to interpret data and recommend solutions to analytical problems
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and maintain strong networks
- Commercial acumen, with experience using analytics to support decision‑making
- Understanding of retail banking products or prior experience in a financial domain (highly desirable)
