This client is a global player in material technology. A stable international group and at the same time a top Belgian company with four locations in our country. We develop technologies and produce materials for high-performance solar cells used in satellites, rechargeable batteries, LED applications, catalysts… Through recycling, we recover valuable metals from, among other things, laptops and mobile phones.
Business Unit Description
The Cobalt & Specialty Materials (CSM) business unit of the client, oversees the entire value chain of cobalt and nickel, from procurement to production, distribution, and recycling. It develops high-quality materials for applications such as batteries, catalysts, and industrial components. CSM places a strong emphasis on innovation, process optimisation, and sustainable material technology. The business unit works closely with engineering and project teams to develop new solutions and to continuously improve. Many activities take place at the site in Olen, where technical expertise is central.
Primary Tasks & Responsibilities
Within the Project Engineering department, you will set up and lead technical industrial projects, from idea to realization. These projects are carried out for production facilities, infrastructure, and R&D. We have different type of projects within different disciplines. Some projects are in the start-up phase, some projects are already ongoing.
You are ultimately responsible for all aspects of your project:
- Responsible for defining the project scope. In consultation with the client:
- Defining specific deliverables: what is complete when the project is finished?
- Defining constraints (budget, planning).
- Responsible for assembling and leading the project team.
- Responsible for the technical design of the entire project.
- Responsible for preparing specifications / tender documents for orders, engineering firms, and contractors (both internal and external).
- Responsible for the selection of orders, engineering firms, and contractors. Also consider specific resources, e.g., designers, but also outsourcing (part) projects.
- Directing and monitoring all resources, both internal and external.
- Maintaining contact with the client throughout the project to capture and assess changes. If agreed upon, implementing them in the project (scope changes).
- Reporting to stakeholders.
Technical Profile Requirements
- You have 3-5 yrs experience managing End-2-End projects with full responsibility (from pre-study till execution and delivery) as project manager.
- You completed at least 5 relevant projects (100K-2500K) as project manager.
- Good Knowledge and experience of all common project management aspects.
- Experience with MS project or equivalent planning software
- You have a technical background as (project) Engineer
- You have a broad general knowledge of the different disciplines: Mechanics, elektricity, piping, Civil,…
- You have knowledge and/or experience in the process industry
- Academic thinking level (analytical but also helicopter view).
- Technical knowledge such as electromechanics, chemistry.
- Good reporting skills.

- Team player, communicative at all levels (clients, colleagues, suppliers, higher management…).
- You can manage and coach a team.
- You are able to challenge your project team-members in the proposed solutions
- You ask ‘the right’ questions at all times
- You have broad experience and great interest in technology, engineering, and project management.

- First interview via teams (30-60min) (week of 25/3 maximum)
