Staff Data Scientist - Healthcare (f/m/d)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Yearly Salary: €90,000 - €100,000 (fixed range, annual gross)
Stock Options: €40,000- €80,000

Your Role
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will play a key role in designing and implementing the next generation of AI-powered imaging applications in healthcare. You will work closely with MRI scientists, business, and product to translate Orbem’s insights from the industrial MRI product to the unique requirements of the healthcare space. Your scientific mindset and strong expertise in data and modeling help us build a healthier future.

- Lead the design and implementation of ML solutions for healthcare (in particular deep learning)
- Explore various datasets and biomarkers to find data insights for the healthcare domain
- Translate knowledge and methods from Orbem’s industrial food applications to the healthcare context.
- Validate reliability, fairness, and interpretability of our ML solutions
- Collaborate with MRI scientists, product and business experts to ensure feasibility, desirability and viability of new products
- Grow the know-how in ML methods for the healthcare domain

- You have significant experience in ML model development for medical imaging.
- You are well versed in methods for model interpretability and uncertainty estimation.
- You have deep knowledge of Pytorch and distributed training.
- You have strong Python coding skills, you are an advocate and expert in best practices and design patterns.
- You have experience with version control tools and tools for creating reproducible, containerized environments.
- You are experienced in ML system design, in particular deep learning and computer vision.
- Proven technical leadership on cross-functional initiatives, successfully guiding data science development with dependencies to various disciplines.
- Strategic influence in shaping the long-term technical roadmap for a product or application, navigating uncertainty and ensuring data science decisions align with business goals.
- High technical judgment and a pragmatic approach to decision-making, with a demonstrated ability to balance deep technical work with product deadlines.
- Publications in relevant conferences for AI/ML in medical imaging.
- Experience bringing AI-enabled imaging methods into products.
- Experience navigating clinical regulatory frameworks in the EU and US.
- Experience with ML data privacy and security challenges and techniques (e.g. federated learning)
