We’re looking for an Azure-expert DevOps Engineer to join a technology company in the insurance industry. You’ll focus on infrastructure automation, cloud operations, and security within our Azure environment. The role requires deep expertise in Azure networking, containerisation, and identity management to maintain and enhance our cloud infrastructure while ensuring full compliance with insurance industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Azure Bicep as the primary tool
• Architect and manage Azure networking solutions including VNets, subnets, hub-spoke topologies, andAzure Firewall
• Deploy and manage containerised applications using Azure Container Apps and Azure Kubernetes Service
• Configure and maintain Azure Application Gateway with WAF for application delivery and security
• Implement and manage Azure API Management (APIM) for API governance and security
• Design and implement identity and access management solutions using Azure Entra ID and ManagedIdentities
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Implement and maintain security controls and best practices across our cloud infrastructure
• Monitor system performance and implement automated alerting systems
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment processes
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems

Role Requirements:

• Azure Expertise: 5+ years hands-on experience; deep knowledge of Azure networking (VNets, subnets, NSGs, route tables, Firewalls, App Gateway, Private/Service Endpoints) and hub-spoke architectures.
• Azure Services: Strong experience with Container Apps, Application Gateway, Firewall, API Management (APIM), Entra ID (Azure AD), Managed Identities, Key Vault, Private Link/Endpoints.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficient in Azure Bicep; experience with Terraform/ARM templates; modular design and deployment scopes.
• DevOps & CI/CD: Azure DevOps pipelines, Git workflows, GitOps principles (Flux, Argo CD).
• Containerisation & Orchestration: Docker, Azure Container Registry (ACR), Kubernetes concepts/AKS, container networking.
• Security & Governance: Cloud security best practices, Azure Security Center / Defender, Azure Policy, network security, encryption, compliance frameworks.
• Scripting & Automation: PowerShell, Azure CLI, optional Python/Bash.
• Monitoring & Observability: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, KQL, alerting, incident response.
• Insurance / Regulatory Knowledge: FCA/PRA regulations, GDPR/UK DPA, insurance systems, audit and compliance frameworks.

Desired Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or similar Azure certifications
• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
• Demonstrable experience architecting and implementing Azure landing zones
• Experience with Azure Front Door for global load balancing
• Knowledge of Azure Virtual WAN for large-scale networking
• Familiarity with Azure Cost Management and cost optimisation strategies
