As part of this team, you will be responsible for developing product layouts and technology concepts, particularly in the areas of electronics systems. This includes development of early prototypes and new technologies leading into scalable mass production.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do...
- Design, develop, and implement embedded firmware for new product concepts, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and product designers to evaluate prototype hardware and firmware interactions.
- Support the firmware aspect of prototyping, including writing and debugging code, to assess feasibility and iterate on design.
- Optimize existing firmware architectures to improve performance and reliability.
- Develop production-ready firmware by incorporating feedback from testing, adhering to coding standards, and implementing best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issues in both prototype and production stages.
- Document firmware design and changes comprehensively to ensure knowledge transfer and maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews and provide guidance to junior firmware engineers.
- Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in embedded firmware development and propose innovative solutions.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to define testing strategies and ensure that firmware meets all required specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate tasks, create development timelines, and track progress.
- Assist in the transition from prototype to production, ensuring a smooth hand-off to manufacturing.
- Provide post-production support, including firmware updates and troubleshooting as needed.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly language.
- Experience with microcontroller architectures, peripheral interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.), and hardware communication protocols.
- Experience with IoT devices and connectivity technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Matter, etc.).
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and interrupt-driven development.
- Strong understanding of electronics and the ability to read schematics and component datasheets.
- Experience with firmware version control and bug tracking systems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and debug complex systems.
- Familiarity with compliance standards and certification processes for electronic products.
