đ What Youâll Get Your Hands On
- Design, develop, and prototype autonomous ground robot and drone hardware systems as part of Snoonuâs AI-driven autonomous logistics platform.
- Lead the integration of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical subsystems, including actuators, drivetrains, power systems, and structural components.
- Integrate and validate sensing hardware such as LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMU, GPS, and thermal sensors in collaboration with AI and embedded systems teams.
- Support the design and implementation of hardware adaptations for Qatarâs environmental conditions, including heat, dust, glare, vibration, and outdoor exposure (IP-rated enclosures, thermal management, sealing).
- Collaborate closely with AI, embedded, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware, perception, navigation, and control stacks.
- Conduct hands-on testing, calibration, debugging, and performance validation of robotic systems in laboratory, simulation, and real-world pilot environments.
- Support system-level integration activities for multi-robot and drone deployments, including pilot demonstrations and validation trials.
- Document hardware designs, test procedures, calibration processes, and experimental results to support R&D reporting, regulatory reviews, and TRL validation.
- Continuously evaluate hardware performance, identify design improvements, and contribute to iterative prototyping cycles aligned with project milestones.
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 2â4 years of backend development experience, with strong hands-on Python expertise
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a hands-on, experimental approach to engineering challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across AI, software, embedded systems, and operations.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to document technical work clearly and explain design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptability and willingness to work in fast-paced R&D environments involving prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Strong business context understanding, able to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
- Open to feedback and proactive in applying improvements suggested by senior engineers or tech leads.
- Strong foundation in Python, including OOP principles, design patterns, and writing clean, maintainable code.
- Experience building backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Ability to design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs with proper error handling and logging.
- Experience using AWS services, such as Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.
- Experience designing event-driven and serverless architectures.
- Familiarity with IAM, environment configuration, and cloud security best practices.
- Strong understanding of mechatronic system design, including motors, actuators, sensors, power systems, and mechanical structures.
- Hands-on experience with robotic platforms, autonomous vehicles, or UAV systems.
- Familiarity with ROS / ROS2 and robotic system integration workflows.
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and basic mechanical fabrication or assembly processes.
- Understanding of sensor calibration, system alignment, and hardware-software integration.
- Knowledge of power management, battery systems, and thermal considerations for mobile robotic platforms.
- Experience with environmental testing, field trials, or outdoor robotic deployments is a strong advantage.
