We are looking for a data leader to drive the technical development of adult education systems, using sophisticated data engineering and analytics to ensure millions in funding reach the Londoners who need it most.

You will lead a small team of analysts to architect, test, and deploy robust data systems using a modern stack centered on PostgreSQL and Python, turning complex datasets into actionable policy insights.

The Role

• Lead a high-performing team of data analysts to deliver software and data systems that manage large-scale adult skills and employment programmes.

• Design and implement end-to-end data solutions, transitioning from raw data collection to production-ready reports and data products.

• Ownership of the codebase: implement robust change controls, technical documentation, and quality assurance testing for all software releases.

• Dive deep into PostgreSQL and Python to automate workflows, build reproducible analytical processes, and optimize database performance.

• Act as a technical bridge, translating complex data architectural issues into clear, strategic advice for non-technical policy stakeholders.

What You'll Need

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL (PostgreSQL), with a proven ability to build, debug, and mentor others in environment setup.

• Strong experience with Version Control and CI/CD workflows using GitHub to review code and maintain high software standards.

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI for creating compelling data visualizations and reporting suites.

• A rigorous approach to Data Quality Assurance and the ability to design sophisticated testing frameworks for data integrity.

• Exposure to large-scale public sector datasets like the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) is highly desirable, or the ability to master complex domain-specific data quickly.
