We're looking for a Senior Android Developer to take ownership of the Android platform across our mobile applications and connected device ecosystem.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for the architecture, quality and long-term maintainability of our Android platform. The role spans both mobile applications and Android-based devices, requiring a strong understanding of how software interacts with hardware, networks and real-world environments.

You will lead by example through high quality engineering practices, guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the platform remains scalable, reliable and maintainable as the product evolves

Role responsibilities

• Own the Android codebase across mobile apps and Android-based devices
• Define the technical direction and architecture for the Android platform
• Lead development of new capabilities across mobile and device software
• Drive improvements in performance, reliability and system resilience
• Work on Android-based devices and custom Android environments (AOSP)
• Integrate mobile software with hardware components, sensors and device services
• Support communication between devices and cloud platforms (e.g. MQTT, APIs)
• Contribute to device software architecture and firmware collaboration where required
• Lead technical design discussions and architectural decisions
• Mentor Android engineers and support their technical growth
• Establish development standards and code review practices
• Support realistic planning and delivery of Android initiatives
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices

Role requirements

• Bring 7 + years of Android development experience as a senior level developer
• Strong experience building, maintaining, and deploying production Android applications, with a proven portfolio of apps on the Play Store
• Experience working with Android-based devices or IoT environments is highly valued but not essential
• Kotlin and modern Android development practices
• Experience building modern UI using Jetpack Compose
• Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modular architecture)
• Experience integrating with backend services and APIs
• Familiarity with device communication protocols (e.g. MQTT, WebSocket’s or similar)
• Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and building shared business logic across platforms - Nice to have but not essential
• Experience building software for connected devices or IoT platforms - Nice to have but not essential
• Experience working with hardware integrations (sensors, GPS, cameras, or similar) - Nice to have but not essential
