Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in Madison, WI that is seeking a Network Administrator. Summary: The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's network infrastructure. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of the network environment, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security. This role requires a proactive approach to network management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals and various departmental teams. Summary: The Network Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the organization's network infrastructure. This includes overseeing the day-to-day operations of the network environment, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security. This role requires a proactive approach to network management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals and various departmental teams. Network Design and Implementation:
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Schedule updates and upgrades
- Collaborate with network architects on network optimization
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues
- Implement and maintain security policies and procedures
- Monitor network security breaches and respond to security incidents
- Ensure data and network protection from internal and external threats
- Regularly monitor network performance to ensure system availability and reliability
- Perform network diagnostics, analyze performance metrics, and report findings to management
- Provide technical support and guidance to users with respect to network infrastructure
- Train team members on new hardware or software affecting the network
- Maintain complete technical documentation of the network and system configuration
- Document incident resolutions and maintain logs of network maintenance activities
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hands-on experience with networking, routing, and switching
- Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of network infrastructure
- Experience with firewalls, Internet VPNs remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
- Ability to set up and configure server hardware
- Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
- Demonstrated effective organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills
