IT Architecture Consultant (m/f/d) | Public Sector | Remote | Long-Term Contract

Our client is a leading IT service provider supporting critical government and defence organisations across Germany. They are seeking a freelance IT Architecture Consultant to support the design and evolution of complex system landscapes while ensuring operational stability in highly secure environments.

Responsibilities:

• Design and further develop enterprise IT architectures and technical solution concepts across complex system landscapes.
• Analyse and structure technical and business requirements, translating them into scalable architecture designs.
• Plan and deliver system migrations, releases, and integrations within existing infrastructure platforms.
• Produce operational, security, and documentation concepts while ensuring compliance with strict governance standards.
• Support incident, problem, and change management while coordinating closely with technical stakeholders and project teams.

Requirements:

• 6+ years’ experience advising on client/server and web-based architectures in highly virtualised, high-availability data centre environments.
• Strong background designing IT architectures for public-sector or defence environments.
• Experience with architecture modelling tools such as ARIS or Alfabet and requirements engineering processes.
• Hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere (Windows/Linux), migrations, and modern virtualised or containerised environments.
• Solid understanding of ITSM processes (especially Change Management).
• Certifications such as ITIL Foundation and strong experience working with Jira/Confluence.
• Fluent German required.
