The Role
This is an entry-level position designed as a growth path into a full software developer role. As a Quality Assurance Developer, you will start by focusing on testing and quality ownership while deeply understanding our codebase, architecture, and business domain. Over time, you will gradually take on development tasks and contribute directly to the shared production codebase.
Your responsibilities:
As a Quality Assurance Developer, you will work directly with our founders and our Head of Marketing on a variety of tasks:
· Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand requirements and define acceptance criteria.
· Analyse business and technical requirements to design effective test strategies.
· Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for backend services and APIs.
· Perform manual and automated testing to ensure reliability of core fintech features.
· Test RESTful and GraphQL APIs using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or RestAssured.
· Validate integrations with third-party financial services (e.g. banking APIs, payment providers, ERP systems).
· Investigate defects, analyze root causes, and work closely with developers to resolve issues.
· Gain a deep understanding of the existing codebase, architecture, and development practices.
As you gain experience, you will:
· Gradually take ownership of small development tasks and bug fixes in the core codebase.
· Contribute to backend services written in Java and/or Kotlin.
· Improve testability, code quality, and system reliability from within the code.
· Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
· Help evolve our testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Your Profile
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· First hands-on experience with software development or testing (internships, student projects, or junior roles).
· Solid foundations in Java and/or Kotlin, with a strong desire to grow as a backend developer.
· Interest in quality assurance, test automation, and software craftsmanship.
· Experience or interest in test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, JUnit, or similar.
· Basic understanding of REST APIs and microservice architectures.
· Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases is a plus.
· Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Good communication skills in English; German or French is a plus.
· Motivation to learn, take ownership, and grow into a software developer role.
