The Principal Systems Engineer provides senior technical leadership for complex infrastructure platforms and systems architecture across the bank’s technology landscape. This role is responsible for solution design, technical governance, platform strategy, and engineering excellence, ensuring infrastructure solutions meet security, scalability, resilience, and regulatory requirements within the banking environment.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Provide strategic technical leadership across infrastructure engineering and platform architecture.
- Define and govern standards, best practices, and architecture principles for enterprise systems.
- Lead design and review of complex infrastructure solutions and system integrations.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to support banking digital transformation initiatives.
- Design highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure platforms across compute, storage, network, and cloud environments.
- Ensure infrastructure architecture aligns with enterprise architecture and security frameworks.
- Lead technical planning and implementation for large-scale system deployments and migrations.
- Drive automation, infrastructure-as-code, and platform reliability improvements.
- Establish engineering standards, operational procedures, and architecture review processes.
- Participate in technology governance boards and architecture review committees.
- Ensure infrastructure designs comply with banking regulatory, risk, and security requirements.
- Maintain oversight of platform lifecycle management, patching strategies, and capacity planning.
- Serve as technical escalation point for major incidents and complex system issues.
- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews for critical outages.
- Implement proactive measures to improve system resilience and operational stability.
- Mentor and guide systems engineers and platform specialists.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Provide technical direction during project delivery and cross-team collaboration.
- Work closely with enterprise architects, application teams, cybersecurity, risk, and operations.
- Support technology initiatives related to core banking, digital channels, data platforms, and regulatory systems.
- Provide expert guidance to programs involving infrastructure transformation and modernization.
- 12+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or systems architecture.
- Extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise-grade infrastructure environments in large organizations, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Strong expertise in areas such as:
- Data center infrastructure
- Virtualization platforms
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or hybrid)
- Storage and backup solutions
- Enterprise operating systems (Linux / Windows)
- Network architecture concepts
- Experience with automation tools, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
- Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity architectures.
