Senior Software Engineer – Fullstack (Nextjs & .Net)

You’re passionate about building exceptional digital experiences — from pixel-perfect interfaces to resilient, scalable backend systems. You care deeply about how customers interact with technology and take pride in crafting intuitive, high-performing applications end-to-end.

We are a team of high-performing engineers, constantly pushing the limits of what’s possible in modern software engineering. Together, we’re shaping the future of banking and insurance through bold innovation and cutting-edge technology.

Your Team

Join the Insurance and Retail Partnerships crew within the Wealth and Private domain, where we’re redefining the future of home insurance.

Our team owns the entire digital application journey — with a strong focus on delivering seamless, intuitive, and accessible front-end experiences, underpinned by secure, scalable backend services.

Millions of Australians rely on our solutions every day. That means performance, reliability, security, and simplicity are non-negotiable. This is your opportunity to build customer-facing technology at scale and make a tangible impact.

Your Impact

As a hands-on Senior Software Engineer with strong frontend capability and full-stack depth, you will:

  • Lead the design and development of modern, responsive, and accessible front-end applications using React and/or Angular.
  • Elevate user experience standards across the application journey, advocating for usability, performance, and clean design.
  • Build and integrate robust backend services and APIs using .NET Core and related technologies.
  • Own solutions end-to-end in a full-cycle engineering model — from design through to production support.
  • Partner closely with your Product Owner and Crew Tech Lead to influence technical direction and architectural decisions.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives including Node.js, Next.js, AI enablement, and modern cloud-native patterns.

You are product-aligned and customer-obsessed, with a mindset that balances experience design excellence with engineering rigor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement high-quality, scalable frontend applications with strong attention to performance, accessibility, and user experience.
  • Build and maintain secure, high-performing backend services and APIs.
  • Contribute to solution design and architecture discussions across frontend and backend domains.
  • Lead technical conversations and collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Drive best practices in Agile delivery, DevSecOps, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Mentor engineers and uplift frontend and full-stack engineering capability within the crew.
  • Champion continuous learning, experimentation, and modern engineering standards.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong experience with Next.js or React and/or Angular in building complex, enterprise-grade web applications.
  • Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frontend architecture patterns.
  • Strong backend development skills in .NET / .NET Core / .NET Framework, MVC, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Proficiency in C#, including OOP principles and design patterns.
  • Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and software engineering best practices.
  • CI/CD experience with Git, TeamCity/Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Octopus or similar.
  • Containerisation using Docker.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Observe, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or similar.
  • Cloud experience — AWS.
  • Database experience: MSSQL/Oracle (relational) and MongoDB (NoSQL).
