You will act as a trusted advisor to leadership teams, an advocate for employees, and a steward of our culture—helping enable a One Microsoft approach while ensuring local relevance, statutory compliance, and operational excellence.

This role covers the Baltics region & CIS areas; along side Poland.

Responsibilities

HR Community Leadership

  • Partner with and build effective relationships with leadership teams to enable a One Microsoft approach, coaching leaders and leadership teams as needed.
  • Create clarity and intentionality across People Priorities at country, geography, or business level, driving consistency while respecting local differences.
  • Partner across the HR model (HRBPs, HR Directors, COEs) to ensure seamless, high‑quality delivery of HR services.
  • Participate in and help drive leadership team HR governance, influencing leadership mindset, customer‑first culture, and people practices.

HR Governance

  • Lead, manage, and drive clarity for geography or client governance committees.
  • Ensure HR alignment across businesses and stakeholder groups within the assigned scope.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date HR information (e.g., immigration, mobility, offer governance).
  • Drive compliance with Microsoft HR practices and identify opportunities to improve HR processes.
  • Partner with Finance, Payroll, Procurement, Corporate, and Legal (CELA) to ensure governance decisions land effectively.

Employee Experience & Engagement

  • Act as an employee advocate by looking beyond process execution into the lived experiences of employees, managers, and leaders.
  • Collaborate with internal communications to ensure alignment and clarity of messaging.
  • Lead and develop strategies to improve employee engagement and workplace experience.
  • Design and manage programs and initiatives that foster an inclusive, positive work environment (e.g., wellbeing initiatives, workplace programs).
  • Promote fair, inclusive, and equitable employee experiences through local policies, learning, and benefits.

Projects, Programs, and Initiatives

  • Execute or lead HR projects, programs, and initiatives with minimal supervision, including applying COE programs, supporting organizational change, or implementing new benefits or talent initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, manage execution, and respond proactively to emerging business or regulatory requirements.

Statutory Accountability

  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and emerging trends affecting HR policies and practices (e.g., labor law, GDPR, health and safety, benefits, local documentation).
  • Translate statutory requirements into practical, compliant HR solutions and localized policies.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulatory frameworks, including oversight of HR suppliers.
  • Partner and negotiate with unions, works councils, or employee representation bodies where applicable.
  • Represent HR in governance and compliance forums, managing legal and financial risk in service of Microsoft’s brand and values.

External Impact

  • Engage local communities and external stakeholders (e.g., professional networks, schools, community organizations) to promote Microsoft culture and values.
  • Represent Microsoft through initiatives such as industry events, diversity programs, and HR professional forums.
  • Build and sustain external relationships that enhance employer brand, community impact, and future workforce readiness.

Crisis Management & Business Continuity

  • Partner with leadership teams to design and orchestrate crisis management strategies, including emergency response, disaster recovery, risk management, and communications.
  • Activate and support Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and wellbeing resources during and after crises.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Legal, Business, Psychology, or a related field and experienced in HR or a related field (e.g., hiring, employee relations, performance management) involving the application of employment laws and HR policies or equivalent experience.
  • Experienced in governing local HR policies.
  • Experience managing local labor law and statutory reporting.

Preferred

Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Legal, Business, Psychology, or a related field.
